Coming Home to Yourself: Embracing the Ebbs and Flows of Change

The season is shifting, and so am I.

This fall feels like a homecoming—not just to cozy routines or autumn rituals, but to myself. I’ve been reminded that growth is rarely a straight line. Life moves in ebbs and flows, and the changes that come our way often feel less like a choice and more like an invitation.
In my gratitude journal, I found myself writing that I’m thankful for the challenges life has brought me lately. At first, they felt heavy and disorienting, but they’ve also revealed a version of me I didn’t know existed. That’s the paradox of transformation: it often arrives through unease, leaving us feeling foggy, uncertain, even fearful. But in those uncomfortable spaces, there’s an opening. When we pause long enough to notice what the universe is showing us, we see which parts of ourselves are ready to fall away—and which parts are waiting to be welcomed home.

At the other side of fear lies freedom.
A big part of that freedom comes from letting go. We cling so tightly to who we thought we were “supposed to be” that we forget how natural it is to shed layers. Like the trees dropping their leaves, we are safe to release what no longer serves us.

Journal Prompts for Your Season of Change
  • What season of life am I in right now, and how does it mirror the natural world around me?
  • What parts of me are ready to fall away, if only I gave myself permission to release them?
  • How can I show up for myself differently to create space for what is new to emerge?

3 Practices to Embrace Change This Season of Homecoming
If you’re navigating your own shift right now, here are three grounding practices to help you move through it with intention:
  1. Daily Journaling Check-InEach morning or evening, write one thing you’re releasing and one thing you’re welcoming in. This keeps you rooted in the process of letting go while staying open to what’s ahead.
  2. Creating a Sacred Space at Home
As the season shifts, refresh a small corner of your home—a windowsill, a desk, or even a bedside table. Place items that ground you (a candle, a crystal, a seasonal flower, or a favorite book) as symbols of your homecoming.
  3. Movement as a Homecoming Practice
Choose a form of movement that feels grounding—whether it’s yoga, a walk through crisp fall air, or dancing in your living room. As you move, repeat a mantra like “I am safe to grow, I am coming home to myself.”

This fall, I’m choosing to trust that the path I’m on is leading me home.
